Harold and Eleanor Hamilton founded Micro Control Company at their kitchen table in Columbia Heights, Minnesota in 1972. The business focused on engineering consulting and manufacturing digital test equipment for the electronics industry. For its first 3 years, Micro Control Company transacted business out of the Hamilton’s home with 4 other employees. In 1976, Micro Control Company was incorporated as a Minnesota corporation with Harold and Eleanor Hamilton as co-owners, and it moved to the Main Street NE location in suburban Minneapolis.
Beginning as a designer of automatic test equipment for testing memory boards and devices, the microprocessor-controlled test system designed and produced by Harold in 1973 was the first in the industry. By 1974, Micro Control had expanded into testing complex logic chips. In 1976, deliveries of burn-in systems for memory devices began. The burn-in and environmental stressing of electronic devices grew steadily as a substantial area of business.
In 1999, Micro Control Company developed the first High-Power Burn-In with Test System with active thermal control. With continuing research and the development of products for high-power burn-in applications, Micro Control has become the world’s leading manufacturer of burn-in with test solutions for high-power devices.
Today, Micro Control Company provides advanced burn-in solutions for the worldwide semiconductor industry. Along with the high-power burn-in and test systems for packaged logic and memory devices, Micro Control designs and builds burn-in boards and other burn-in accessories.
