Engineering Development Station (EDS)

Engineering Development Stations (EDS) are single-board (one-slot) systems that provide the same test electronics and device cooling for single burn-in boards as are available in full burn-in systems of the same configuration. The EDS is primarily used for test development and board troubleshooting.

  • Research and development on devices
  • Single-board testing
  • Open design for easy access to test points
  • Scoping signals on burn-in boards
  • Designing and debugging test programs
  • Troubleshooting burn-in boards
  • Running diagnostic tests
  • Use with an accompanying burn-in system with the same design configuration

Burn-In Carts & Mobile Workstations

Micro Control offers mobile solutions for transporting burn-in boards (BIBs) and regulator assemblies between burn-in systems and Engineering Development Stations (EDS). Burn-In Carts provide secure, manual transport for the LC-2 V Series, LC-3, LC-FLEX, and HPB-5C, while the powered Mobile Workstation supports the HPB-6 and HPB-8.

The Mobile Workstation uses a powered lift that automatically aligns and levels to slot height, with rollers that let BIB and regulator assemblies slide into place with minimal effort. It docks directly to the burn-in system or EDS, and can integrate or separate BIBs and regulators while docked. BIBs and regulators lock independently for secure transport.

  • Transport of BIBs, regulators, and complete BIB/regulator assemblies
  • Powered lift with automatic alignment and leveling to slot height (Mobile Workstation)
  • Direct docking to burn-in systems and EDS
  • Powered integration and separation of BIBs and regulators while docked (Mobile Workstation)
  • Open-sided design for easy access to BIBs and sockets
  • Independent locking of BIBs and regulators for secure transport
  • Safety features including locking castors, sliding window interlock, and BIB detection sensors

Automation Solutions

Micro Control’s automation complete setup connects burn-in systems with automated loading and mobile robotics, moving devices through the burn-in process with minimal manual handling. It is a modular network (Automatic Loader-Unloader (ALU), Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV), Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR), and burn-in systems) coordinated by cross-platform software that synchronizes all motion and communication. The scalable design supports a single system or an entire production line.

The complete setup integrates with some existing systems, allowing current customers to add automation without replacing burn-in hardware. Retrofits support direct ALU connection and AGV/AMR compatibility, enhancing reliability, consistency, and throughput while maintaining Micro Control’s precise electrical and thermal control.

  • Automatic Loader-Unloader (ALU) for hands-free board handling
  • Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) and Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR) with cassettes
  • Cross-platform software synchronizing all motion and communication
  • Integration with existing systems without replacing burn-in hardware
  • Reduced manual handling of high-value devices

Turnkey Solutions

Micro Control Company burn-in accessories are available as part of a complete turnkey solution. Available options for including with a burn-in with test system are engineering development stations, carts, automation, burn-in boards, and even purchasing sockets, which can save time and streamline the purchasing process.

Developing Automation Offerings

Automation is already available for our HPB-8 and HPB-6 systems, and we are actively working to bring those capabilities to more of our burn-in systems over time. As capabilities and demands expand, the goal stays the same: move high-value devices through burn-in with less manual handling and more repeatable results.

  • Available Today: Fully integrated automation for the HPB-8 and HPB-6, from automated loading to mobile robotics
  • Expanding Over Time: Engineering work underway to extend automation to additional burn-in systems
  • Built to Scale: A modular path that grows from a single cell to a full production line as your needs change

Engineering Development Station (EDS) Benefits

An EDS is a single-board (one-slot) system that brings the same test electronics and device cooling as a full burn-in system to the bench. It is purpose-built for the work that happens before production: developing test programs, validating boards, and tracking down issues one board at a time.

  • Single-Board Focus: Develop, debug, and troubleshoot one burn-in board without tying up a full system
  • Open Access: An open design that makes test points easy to reach for scoping signals and running diagnostics
  • Production-Matched: Same configuration as its accompanying burn-in system, so what you prove out transfers directly to the floor
